Job Description
The Advanced Field Service Engineer will provide on-site technical support, maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning services for complex equipment and systems. The successful candidate will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to field services and product development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead cross-functional teams in resolving technical and administrative challenges related to equipment delivery and installation.
- Serve as an escalation point for Field Service Specialists, Service Engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to ensure efficient operation of equipment and systems.
- Work directly with customers to understand their requirements and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Support systems involving custody transfer, tank inventory management, gas flow metering systems and skids, flame and gas detection systems, and field instrumentation.
- Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned accounts and ensure customer needs and expectations are met.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding orders, delivery dates, repairs, order changes, and returns.
- Coordinate with Technical Support, Logistics, Manufacturing, Regional Sales Managers, Product Managers, and other departments to resolve customer issues.
- Process and monitor orders, including order entry, order changes, returns, and discrepancies.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer-care and field-service processes.
Key Responsibilities
- On-Site Support: Provide technical assistance, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair services at customer locations.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently to minimize equipment downtime and maintain optimal performance.
- Customer Interaction: Work directly with customers to understand their needs, respond to inquiries, and provide training on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service activities, equipment status, service reports, and customer interactions.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to identify and address potential equipment issues before they become critical.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, sales, customer support, and other cross-functional teams to provide comprehensive technical support.
- Product Improvement: Provide technical feedback and insights to engineering and product-development teams to support continuous improvement.
- Technical Expertise: Stay up to date with industry trends, product developments, and relevant technologies to strengthen technical knowledge and service capabilities.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements during all field-service activities.
- Travel: Travel to customer locations, both domestically and internationally, as required to provide on-site technical support.
Qualifications and Requirements
Candidates should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field. Relevant diploma or technical certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in field-service engineering or a related technical role.
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of complex machinery, equipment, or systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
- A customer-focused mindset and the ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively, sometimes at short notice, to customer locations.
