Description
- We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Raw Material Procurement Manager to manage the sourcing, purchasing, and continuous supply of raw materials required for our fibre production operations
- The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing quality raw materials, particularly PET bottles and other recyclable materials used in fibre production, developing reliable supplier networks, negotiating competitive prices, controlling procurement costs, and ensuring that materials are delivered on time and meet the company’s required specifications.
- The ideal candidate must understand the recycling/fibre manufacturing value chain and have practical experience sourcing raw materials from collectors, aggregators, recycling companies, suppliers, and other relevant sources.
Key Responsibilities
Raw Material Sourcing:
- Develop and maintain reliable sources for raw materials required for fibre production.
- Source PET bottles, recyclable plastics, and other approved raw materials according to production requirements.
- Identify and develop relationships with waste collectors, aggregators, recycling centres, dealers, and bulk suppliers.
- Build a strong supplier network across different locations to ensure continuous availability of raw materials.
- Research the market regularly to identify new sources and changes in raw material prices.
- Ensure sufficient raw-material supply to support uninterrupted production.
Raw Material Quality Control:
- Work closely with the Production and Quality Control teams to understand the required specifications for raw materials.
- Ensure purchased PET bottles/raw materials meet the company’s required standards.
- Monitor the quality, colour, type, contamination level, moisture content, and other relevant characteristics of materials supplied.
- Ensure proper sorting and grading of raw materials before they enter production.
- Work with suppliers to reduce contamination and rejected materials.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues with suppliers.
Supplier Management:
Management
- Identify, evaluate, negotiate with, and onboard reliable suppliers.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers.
- Negotiate competitive prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions.
- Monitor supplier performance based on quality, price, quantity, and delivery reliability.
- Develop alternative suppliers to reduce dependency on a single source.
- Regularly visit supplier locations where necessary to assess their capacity and reliability.
Procurement & Cost Control:
- Develop procurement plans based on production forecasts and raw-material requirements.
- Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers.
- Negotiate the best possible prices while maintaining required quality.
- Monitor fluctuations in PET and recyclable-material prices.
- Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs.
- Control unnecessary emergency purchases and avoid excessive inventory.
- Prepare procurement budgets and monitor spending against approved budgets.
Production & Inventory Coordination:
- Work closely with the Production, Warehouse, Finance, and Quality Control departments to determine material requirements.
- Monitor available stock and ensure materials are replenished before reaching critical levels.
- Maintain appropriate minimum and maximum stock levels.
- Plan purchases based on production schedules and expected consumption.
- Track materials from supplier delivery through receiving and warehouse storage.
- Minimize production downtime caused by raw-material shortages.
Market & Supplier Network Development:
- Continuously research new raw-material sources and suppliers.
- Develop procurement channels in areas with high availability of recyclable materials.
- Establish relationships with large aggregators and collection networks.
- Monitor market prices and competitor purchasing activities.
- Provide management with regular updates on raw-material availability, pricing, and market conditions.
- Develop long-term sourcing strategies to guarantee the company’s future raw-material requirements.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Ensure all procurement transactions are properly documented.
- Maintain supplier records, quotations, purchase orders, invoices, delivery notes, and other relevant documents.
- Prepare weekly and monthly procurement reports.
- Track quantities purchased, prices paid, supplier performance, and material rejection rates.
- Report procurement challenges, shortages, price changes, and supply risks to management.
- Maintain accurate procurement and supplier databases.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Procurement & Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing, recycling, plastics, textiles, fibre, or related industries.
- Proven experience in raw-material procurement.
- Practical knowledge of sourcing PET bottles, recyclable plastics, or similar manufacturing raw materials is highly desirable.
- Strong supplier network and proven ability to develop new sources of raw materials.
- Strong negotiation and price-analysis skills.
- Good understanding of inventory management and supply-chain processes.
- Ability to assess raw-material quality and supplier reliability.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and procurement/ERP systems.
- Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to travel to supplier locations and collection centres when required.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.

Important Candidate Profile
- The company is not simply looking for a general Purchasing Manager.
- The preferred candidate should have hands-on experience sourcing raw materials for manufacturing, particularly candidates who understand where to find PET bottles/recyclable materials, how to negotiate with aggregators and suppliers, how to assess material quality, and how to secure sufficient volumes at competitive prices.
- Candidates from PET recycling, plastic recycling, fibre manufacturing, textile manufacturing, waste collection/aggregation, or related raw-material procurement environments should be given strong consideration.
