Job Summary
She Code Africa is seeking a Finance and Compliance Officer to support daily financial operations, ensure compliance with donor requirements, and contribute to fundraising and reporting efforts. This role is critical to maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the organization’s mission to close the gender gap in tech.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update accurate financial records and accounting systems
- Assist in financial reporting, budget tracking, and variance analysis across grants and programs
- Monitor compliance with internal controls and donor-specific financial guidelines
- Participate in audits, internal reviews, and quarterly financial performance reporting
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including grants, CSR programs, and partnerships
- Lead initial outreach and pitch conversations with potential funders
- Draft financial narratives, budgets, and supporting documents for proposals
- Maintain personal fundraising pipeline and contribute to revenue generation targets
- Represent the organization in funder briefings, pitch events, and donor roundtables
- Maintain donor finance dashboards to track funds and disbursements
- Support timely financial reporting and donor updates in line with compliance calendars
- Join donor check-in meetings to provide financial insights and compliance updates
- Flag and document compliance risks and improve SOPs
- Assist with internal reviews and implement corrective actions from audits
- Availability for occasional local or international travel
Required Qualifications
- Open to female candidates residing in Lagos, Nigeria
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or compliance, preferably in the nonprofit or development sector
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial forecasting, audit readiness, and reporting
- Knowledge of Nigerian tax and financial regulations for nonprofits
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, QuickBooks, Wave, or similar financial software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving attitude
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple work streams in a remote setup
- Alignment with She Code Africa’s mission and commitment to gender equity in tech
- Availability for occasional local or international travel
